NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN
Springing to life over the last two decades, Harris Ranch has matured into the vibrant, connected community it is today - and there is more to come. Currently, the neighborhood features more than 1,000 quality residences, world-class pedestrian and bike paths, and unmatched access to nature thanks to a focus on preservation of premium green spaces and river frontage. Future elements, many of which are now under construction, include the Dallas Harris Elementary School, additional housing options, the Town Center, and Village Green.

Smart Growth
Harris Ranch was designed to adhere to the principles of Smart Growth, which emphasize urban concepts such as walkability and housing diversity alongside amenities like green spaces, public transportation, and community gathering facilities. Following these guidelines, Harris Ranch naturally encourages residents to live healthier lifestyles and to have greater ties to their surroundings.
The pedestrian-friendly development promotes walking and biking with neighborhood paths and direct access to Boise Greenbelt and foothills trails. Community interaction is encouraged through the use of alleyways, shared open space, pools and postal pavilions.
An intentional focus on Smart Growth has allowed Harris Ranch to achieve the balance necessary to create a connected, lively community only five miles from downtown Boise, while respecting native wildlife and existing open space.
Today, Harris Ranch is one of Idaho’s best planned communities. The neighborhood boasts a mix of land uses, a strong focus on environmental preservation and protection, a robust network of walking and biking trails, easy access to community amenities, and a vibrancy that can sustain itself over time.

Designed with Community in Mind
Harris Ranch is a master planned neighborhood with amenities that are specifically designed for livability, walkability, safety, and connection in the community. It is unique on many fronts and represents several “firsts” in the state of Idaho. Most notably, it is the first Specific Plan approved by the City of Boise, gaining approval after many years of neighborhood charrettes, discussions, and public hearings. It was approved with much fanfare and praise from all stakeholders for its attention to the smart growth and pedestrian-friendly design.
